A look Back On April 2019

The first quarter of 2019 was a wild one. With an Army deployment on the horizon, I tried to squeeze as much as I possibly could out of my time left in Washington. Since January, It has been almost non-stop traveling, competitions, training at new schools, and airplane trips across the country for the Army visits with friends/family.  After the hectic pace, I found myself going into April worn down and exhausted.

So for this month, I turned off the burners and allowed myself a rare respite from training and only showed up to class a couple of times a week. When I was in class, I focused on flow rolls and just having fun.

I also recently realized that although I've lived in Washington for almost a year, I've done little to explore what the state has to offer 😳 and instead have pretty much done JiuJitsu. This month I tried to get out and experience more of Washington by visiting the state's islands, hitting a Mariner's game, and exploring the Seattle area.

I did hit 4 new schools this month! 10th Planet Seattle, Mat Chess with Shawn Wiesenberg, Schell Shock BJJ, and then my favorite was going to Nova Uniao Bothell with the team (We all took a group picture together, but no one knows where that picture went. 😅)

Exploring Washington was awesome! The temperature has been warming up, the days are lasting longer, and the tourists haven't swarmed the islands yet. A perfect time to get out and explore. Training might have been light, but it was a fantastic month of awesome food, exploration, and good times.

What I'm Looking Forward to In May

Team Wise EBI Bracket

After a brief metal and physical break, it's time to get back at it! I will be participating in the Team Wise EBI bracket May 18th. The last one was an awesome experience, and I'm very appreciative for the opportunity to be a part of this one. This will be my last competition in Washington and I'd love to see everyone there again!
