The US Army Fight-House

A room filled with alpha type warriors. Heavy Rucks, long miles, and many sleepless nights have become permanently etched into their faces. With an almost anxious energy they long for the battlefield. To fulfill their purpose and of their training and engage and destroy the enemy. While they await their turn to go overseas, they unleash that energy onto the mats, which see a daily battle of strength, wills, and techniques as they drip blood and sweat to claw their way to the top of the pack.

When out of uniform, colored ink covers their bodies, leaving only their hands and face untouched to remain within Army regulations. When donning rash guards, thick necks, wide backs, and hardened muscles bulge through the material. A testament of the hours spend under iron and heavy packs.

They spot the newcomer, who quickly becomes the fixation of the room, as hungry eyes dart up and down evaluating the new figure. Is this person a threat to the wolf pack’s hierarchy established from months of mat battles? Or is this a new grappler that will simply fall in line where they belong.

A silent exchange takes place as the newcomer and the room survey each other. This new figure looks rather unthreatening. While tall, lanky arms and an unassuming posture don’t raise alarm. Yet this figure excludes a calm confidence as he walks on to the mat, a purple belt in hand. Ah yes, a somewhat experienced grappler. Their faces don’t smile, but a glimmer of excitement flashes in the group’s eyes. This will be fun hunting this one. A bit of a challenge perhaps, but they’ve broken many people just like this, and after all, the wolves always enjoy a challenging prey.

But no not today unfortunately. The newcomer has arrived at the end of training and the group hungrily watches as he departs to return after the weekend. “Yes, rest up. You’re going to come Monday.” They silently exchange with an an anticipating look to each other.
